Progress with Purpose:
Business. Tourism. Accountability.
A Record of Service. A Platform Built on Results.
Shedrick Lang is a business owner, community advocate, and small-business development leader running for Riviera Beach City Council, District 2. His campaign is built on a clear principle: Riviera Beach does not need more empty promises. It needs leadership that has already been doing the work.
Through the Small Business Association of Riviera Beach, Shedrick has worked directly with entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits, and local stakeholders to help them access resources, pursue certifications, identify opportunities, navigate permitting challenges, prepare for procurement, and participate in the economic future of Riviera Beach.
Shedrick has also helped build opportunity pipelines for young people. As President of THE NETWORK, Black Integrated Communication Professionals, Inc. - South Florida, he initiated and advanced a partnership connecting AT&T with Inner City Youth "Getting There" (ICY) to expose local students to STEM careers, technology, mentorship, and a stronger talent pipeline. This project reflects the same results-driven approach he brings to economic development: identify the opportunity, bring partners together, and make it happen.
Riviera Beach has assets that other cities would love to have: a waterfront, marina, Port access, Singer Island, Peanut Island, Phil Foster Park, Blue Heron Bridge, and direct proximity to major redevelopment opportunities. The next step is connecting those assets to local jobs, local business growth, tourism revenue, and responsible corridor improvement.

1. The Blue Heron Corridor Standard: The Path to Paradise
Blue Heron Boulevard is the gateway from I-95 to the waterfront, Singer Island, Peanut Island, Phil Foster Park, and Blue Heron Bridge. The corridor should look, feel, and function like the entrance to a world-class destination.
-
Work with property owners, businesses, homeowners, and landowners to improve maintenance, landscaping, lighting, signage, vacant lots, and curb appeal.
-
Prioritize partnership, technical assistance, grants, facade support, and voluntary improvement before enforcement.
-
Create a visible gateway identity that helps visitors understand they have entered Riviera Beach.
2. Dive, Dine & Discover Riviera Beach
Blue Heron Bridge is recognized by PADI as the #1 shore dive in the United States. Riviera Beach should convert that distinction into local revenue by encouraging visitors to eat, shop, stay, and spend locally.
-
Build partnerships with dive shops, hotels, restaurants, tour operators, local vendors, and tourism agencies.
-
Promote packages and visitor routes that connect Phil Foster Park, Peanut Island, Singer Island, the Marina, and local businesses.
-
Develop a stronger tourism-to-small-business pipeline so visitor spending benefits District 2 and the broader city.
3. Small Business Growth and Certification Pipeline
-
Help businesses become SBE, MBE, DBE, ACDBE, and 8(a)-ready.
-
Connect entrepreneurs to procurement opportunities, grant programs, lender readiness, and compliance support.
-
Expand hands-on business assistance through workshops, one-on-one support, and business-readiness events.
4. Local Participation in Redevelopment
-
Require stronger outreach to local vendors and certified businesses on public and private redevelopment opportunities.
-
Support incubator spaces, co-working opportunities, affordable commercial space, and pathways from home-based business to storefront operation.
-
Measure success by contracts awarded, businesses certified, storefronts opened, jobs supported, and dollars retained locally.
